1 out of 5 stars Quality Issues   July 29, 2010
G Funk (Seattle, WA USA)
I suspect that the good reviews here were written after a few days or weeks. As it turns out, the connections of these headphones break down in less than a year, and they are then useless. While the work, they are great. But given the price, V-Moda needs to do much better on reliability.

3 out of 5 stars Great sound and feel, but middling build quality   July 26, 2010
Martin Hecko (San Francisco, CA)
These are great headphones when it comes to sound and operation. The multiple sizes of silicone caps allow them to fit almost any ear. My favorite touch is the kevlar covered cable. The buds themselves are made of metal and that means that they are a bit heavier then similar in-ear headphones.

I only wish that the build quality would be better. If you buy these, expect to have to send the in for warranty replacement. I bought two pairs -- one has developed a problem where all callers have an echo and the other pair one of the earbuds has a loose cable. My previous warranty repair from v-moda is good, so I don't expect any problems, but it is annoying.

Bottom line, if you want great sound, get these, but they will probably not last long.

3 out of 5 stars nice head phones   July 20, 2010

They work nice, but are a bit heavy and therefore fall out of my ears sometimes.

5 out of 5 stars Don't throw them away just yet...   June 26, 2010

I bought these to replace a pair of Bo$e ear buds that fell apart after 6 months. I've had these for a year now. With the fabric jacket they will hold up to anything, for example they have stood up to more than one attack from my cat. I've found to put them on correctly I must gently pull my ear up to open up my ear socket and push them in (I think the instructions that come with them say to do something similar). it took a few days to get used to how they feel, which is similar to having ear plugs in. Speaking of ear plugs when i put them in my ear it immediately blocks out sounds, not perfectly, but about as good as foam ear plugs. But when you start your music, even at the lowest levels you can't hear a thing around you. I use them when I mow my lawn and my music is all I hear. After 3 months the left side bud stopped working and I was about to buy another pair form a different brand but...

I found that the only reason the left side bud stopped working was that it was clogged with, yes it is gross, ear wax. I found this out by only putting the supposedly dead bud in my ear and blasting my iPod. I could slightly hear the music, but it was muffled.

So to clean it I've found that you must dip the metal mesh part of the bud, with the silicone cushion off, into rubbing alcohol. Then blow really hard at the mesh, if you hear a slightly loud whistling sound you are doing it right. Then try it, it should work.

Now I understand this may not be the issue for everyone you might have a short circuit, but I've had this happen more than once and have still been able to fix it. So it is likely this is your problem.

It doesn't bother me that people are complaining about the product, because amazon will continue to lower the price of the headphones, in that case I will buy another pair. And I will be the winner ;)

By the way the bass is really good and not overpowering or distorted.

Rock Safely

2 out of 5 stars Sounds great and fits my small ears, but breaks after several months   June 20, 2010
Michael Schell (www.schellsburg.com)
Unfortunately I must join the chorus. These V-Moda Vibe II earbuds sound great with my iPhone and computer, and they're one of the few earbud models that fit comfortably in my smallish ears (for example, the big crappy white earbuds that come with iPhone 3G and 3GS models are too big to fit in my ears). The problem is that one of the channels will eventually die suddenly. This has happened to me thrice now at roughly six-month intervals.

Happily, V-Moda has replaced my earbuds all three times this happened, even though I'm now beyond the original one year warranty period. But it's frustrating to have to go through this. Perhaps the short cable is part of the problem, but given the volume with which others are reporting this exact issue, it's pretty clear that a design or manufacturing defect is the culprit. Sadly, I must recommend you try a different model.
