still needs work July 21, 2010 zadigger bought along with the gunmetal color set. This pair was the reworked model meant to addrress the fraying wires but only accomplished hiding them. After two months of the best sounding headphones I've ever had the wires at the jack became loose and would only work if pulled in a certain direction. m
Long time subscriber July 19, 2010 Darcy Duncan This is my 3rd pair of ear buds! The first set my puppy chewed so I bought a 2nd set and my sister borrowed and never returned so I am on my 3rd set. They are reasonably priced and worth every penny!
V-Moda Vibe Earbuds Deliver Big Bass July 10, 2010 Rev K (The Berkshires USA) It's true. The V-Moda Vibe Earbuds Deliver Big Bass once you get the soft ear inserts fitted properly. Out of the box, the sound quality was tinny and unimpressive. But, once I went up a size (three sizes are included) the sound was full and rich with excellent bass response - not boomy, but deep.
I bought these for use with my iPad on the airplane where the ambient noise tended to drown out movie sound tracks with my Apple ear buds. The design of these in ear buds provides a lot of passive noise reduction which made it possible for me to hear all the dialogue for the first time!
The styling is great and they come with a v-shaped rubber mandrel for winding the cord around AND a small carrying pouch. Both of which say quality and attention to detail to me. The only disappointment is that the wire insulation is a clear PVC which makes the wires tend to stick to one another. The colored braid you think you see in the photos is actually on the inside of this clear PVC outer insulation. But, for the price, these are terrific!
Not like my last ones July 9, 2010 Anothermulekickin' (State College PA, USA) Had a different pair for 1.5 yrs--eventually had two cable failures, which began in the insulating material. Sound was as far as I am concerned, great. They took some abuse, so I considered them to have lived a fair lifetime.
This pair had a different insulating casing, which I thought might give it more durability. In fact, I think it really will--the problem is, it will need all of it and maybe then some. These cables have so much friction, that they seem to always want to get tangled. With my last pair, a few shakes usually did the trick to get things untangled. With this pair, I am spending a lot of time untangling these each time I do anything close to coiling the cable. The cables just want to grab each other.
Decided to use these only at the gym, where I can hang the cable up after each use. Price on these went down by 33% after I bought them. At $19.99 they are a good deal--they sound good, but will be a bit of a nuisance. At $29.99, which is what I paid, not so much.
Sound is great, for my taste.
"OK" at the discounted price ($20); Would NEVER pay full price for these ($75+!) July 5, 2010 MrChat138 I am just an average guy, wont pretend to be an expert, so I will call these like I see them. Got these discounted for around $20 bucks. I would have to say that I am pretty happy with the purchase. Dont get me wrong... these are not completetly horrible; they sound pretty good, are very light and comfortable (can hardly tell they are on), and are small enough that you can lay on your side without them becoming a problem. But in order to get a really good sound (such as the big bass they are advertised with), you have to shove these things in your canals pretty far, and by then they are so far in that every little move of the cord can be heard (dont even try chewing something!!!). Let me just go ahead and bullet-list the pros and cons with these:
PROs
-Small, lightweight
-EXTREMELY comfortable
-Strong metal build
-Cord feels sturdy and secure
-Sound decent (but I did have to turn the source up a little higher, which takes a star off the rating)
-Good accessories (6 different size/color tips)
CONs
-Not really worth the price tag; even at the discounted $20 price I have heard same or better quality cheaper
-Pretty much have to pierce your brain to get the advertised GREAT sound and bass
-The only "noise isolating" is due to how far you have to push these things in
-Says they can be used at the gym; NO WAY... you can hear every move of the cord
-Short cord (but it says this in the ad so no star removed because of this)
Overall, I guess I would recommend these as long as you look for the best price possible! I would not recommend going over $15 or $20 or you may feel let down. I wish I could give 3.5 stars, but since I cant, I will be nice and round up.
