Product Description Memories serve me well. The Koss KOSS PRO-4AA Studio Monitor Headphones are filled with those memories of when I fell in love with headphone sound. Years back, I visited the Lincoln Center Library of Performing Arts, in New York. They have a circulating music division and , those day, also a listening room. The headphones they used were an earlier generation of the Koss Pro-4AA. The sound they delivered was brethtaking. I realized then that these were the headphones I'd measure others by. I listened to these. It's a perfect match! Sometimes, through time, we revise our tastes. Listening to these Pro4AA bring me back to the discovery of grat sound from a headphone. Now it's your turn to discover them too. Perfect for home and professional use Lifetime warranty
Amazon.com Product Description The Koss Pro-4AA stereo headphones were built with studio and broadcast use in mind. Closed-ear cushions provide excellent isolation and bass, while high and low sounds come in clear due to its 10 to 25,000 Hz frequency response. The Pro-4AA includes microphone mount hardware, 0.25-inch plug, and a coiled, single-entry 10-foot cord.

drummers/bassists love it,heavy, uncomfy, and it works June 30, 2010 Tech Junkie awsome to see quality at this price.
think drummers/ bass players in a live room, and then dont try these with anything eslse.
these are hot and will make you sweaty, and these excel at thier job.
every drummer bassist i have recorded with wants to buy them.... i tellem, amazon dude, amazon.
your definately going to need an extension 1/4" adapter /extender option that they sell, cord is not long enough IMHO.
koss headphones June 26, 2010 junglejerry Great, old school headphones. So heavy and hot you'll build neck muscles while shrinking your head from sweat. If you play headbanging music avoid these. They are heavy enough to hurt someone when they go flying across the room.Couldn't find some phones for my practice amp at the big box stores.
Heavyweight and giant, but sound excelent June 5, 2010 Eduardo Albuquerque (Brazil) The sound coming from these headphones are excelent, very high-fidelity (no ultra-bass, no noise, no nothing, just what is exactly there). They also isolate noise around you very nicely, I could use with no music on, just to immerse myself into something I'd be doing and don't want to be disturbed by the environment noises.
However, I'd like a longer cord (it IS quite long and curly - like old telephone cords -, but for home theater usage it needed to be longer) but that's not its major problems:
1) 1/4 inch (6,3mm) connector: these are full size connectors, meaning it won't fit into 99% of household appliances, not to mention personal MP3 players, video games, consumer gears in general. These are professional headphones, so I suppose people in the industry must see it as a benefit rather than an issue. You'll probably have to buy an adapter (very cheap, < USD 5), but be careful to choose a good quality one, as a poor adapter can spoil the awesome sound quality
2) size and weight: make no mistake, these are BIG headphones. And when I say BIG I really mean BIG. You'll look like an alien wearing them, better keep it for home use only... The size leads to weight, and these headphones are VERY HEAVY. They can be painful to the top of your head after 2h of continuous usage, eventough they have a cushion on the top arc.
Another issue is appearance, they look too 70s. The color, pastel yellow, is also very kitsch. I like them this way, but some may don't.
I give it 4 stars and surely recommend it for the awesome sound quality and fidelity that I doubt you will find in another sub USD100 headphone.
Not for the newbees, and amatures... May 20, 2010 IQ (Chicago) I remember wanting this pair almost 20 years ago, but way out of my price range back then. ($120, I think) So when I saw the price on here, I had to jump at the opportunity. Don't get me wrong they are heavy (the weight does not bother me) by today's standard when comparing to newer style headsets, but then again this one is not made of cheap plastic and foam. For the sound quality and price, plus KOSS Lifetime Warranty, I don't think the other brands can ever compare, and yes this is one of the few consumer electronic items that is still MADE IN USA. (Milwaukee, WI)
Now for the newbees out there: No iPods, No PCs gamers, etc. The phone jack is 1/4", so look else where. These headphones are for professionals (DJs, Studios) and serious audiophiles (HiFi Stereo component systems). iPod docking stations need not apply, because they will not be able to push out the power to deliver the ohms (250 Max.) necessary for full potential of the sound. The fact that this particular model has been in production since the 70s says it all. Good Listening... Enjoy...
Almost as good as my father's April 13, 2010 Level Mind (SE Florida) I got these as the second warranty replacement for my discontinued Koss A130.
Koss initially sent me the Pro4AAT. They were terrible.
On the other hand, the PRO4AA sound almost as good as I remember my father's sounded.
Good clarity (could be better), good dynamic range, good imaging, good basses, good midrange, good highs.
Build quality leaves lots to be desired, they look cheaply made, the foams under the ear cushions are in different places from one side to the other. The piece that has the hinge pivots is poorly molded, and it is almost cutting sharp.
Koss sent them, as I said before, as warranty replacement. They were in a box that badly deformed the head band. After reshaping the the head band, they fit comfortably with just the right amount of pressure on my head/ears. Even though they are on the heavy side, I can listen comfortably for hours.
I would recommend them to my friends with a warning about the build quality.
