Product Description Koss The Plug is a stereo earbud for the discriminating listener. It delivers accurate acoustical reproduction and unbelievable isolation typically found in more expensive, closed-style stereophones. The Plug features a dynamic element that is positioned just outside the ear and connected to a tubular port structure that is inserted on a soft expandable cushion into the ear canal. The soft foam cushion expands for a custom fit to improve isolation and enhance deep bass and treble clarity. The Plug has special ear cushions made of hydrophilic, formed urethane, for a custom fit each and every time it is inserted into the listener's ear. The custom fit enhances isolation when you want to plug out ambient sounds that interfere with the listening experience. The Plug delivers the full sound of Koss. Combined with your favorite music and a portable sound system, it is the ultimate accessory on the go. A mute switch on the cord provides connection to the outside world without having to un-plug.
Amazon.com Product Description Koss's miniature portable earphone, affectionately dubbed "The Plug," makes use of an ear-cushion material (similar to that used in sound-blocking earplugs) that slowly expands in your ear canal to provide a custom fit and maximum sonic isolation from external noises. A detachable, extrawide headband makes these Koss-termed "stereophones" easy to carry or store. For accurate sound reproduction, these earbud-style headphones are made with oxygen-free copper voice coils and neodymium iron boron magnets. You can enjoy them with either a portable or home audio device, since both 0.125-inch and 0.25-inch adapter jacks are included. "The Plug" weighs a mere quarter ounce and has a frequency response rated at an impressive 16 to 23,000 Hz (though its unlikely you'll hear bass output anywhere close to what you'd get from a similarly rated loudspeaker!). Impedance is 16 ohms, with less than a 0.3 percent distortion and reasonably high sensitivity of 112 dB SPL/1 mW.

upgraded product; degraded sound July 27, 2010 SteveAV As others have already stated, the product design has changed. The angled plug has been changed to a straight plug. The wire has a cheaper feel to it. And worst of all, the sound quality has changed for the worst. The audio is now tinny, with little low end. This is the 4th pair of Plugs I have owned, and the only negative I have ever found with them. I've been buying them because (1) they are cheap, (2) they had a decent enough sound quality for when I work out, and (3) the wire to each earpiece is the same length. Looks like I will have to start looking elsewhere.
Listen To These! June 29, 2010 Woofer 4 all Tweeters I have always purchased Koss headphones, but I didn't know that they would sound this good. The price is beyond nice too. One need's to give these a try.
Good head[hones but... June 13, 2010 Chaos5061 (Texas, USA) I had a older version of this headphone that had the angle plug on it.And they lasted for 3 years. These new ones have a straight plug and lasted only 2 weeks before i had to replace them. If they go back to the angle plug i will buy these again. If you look at the photo you see the angle plug they changed it to a straight plug.
Get the job done April 27, 2010 chaos junkie (where you want to be) So I recently bought these at SEATAC airport for pretty much 3times the price offered on Amazon (supply and demand is a B@#%&) but i must say they are surprisingly a decent pair of earbuds. The squishy tips can get lost easily...ive already lost one...but i love that they mold into your ear. I have the worst luck with anything i have to stick in my ear and im happy to say i have not had any inner ear pain from wearing them for hours at a time...
In conclusion...nothing's perfect...4 stars...
What the other reviewers DON'T mention April 23, 2010 EDWARD BARTMIN (SEATTLE, WA) Koss SPARKPLUG - Stereo In Ear Ear Plugs
What I don't see in the dozen or so reviews, I have browsed is the quick-and-dirty insertion technique. I overcome that trouble by pinching the foam and putting it my mouth, give it a quick suck, then stick it in the ear, the added lubrication makes it a breeze to get a good fit (once the squeamish get past the ewww factor).
They are the best ear bud value on the planet, their ability to isolate sound allows you to play music and podcasts very low.
I have had a recent string of bad luck with the cord shorting out at the plug, after a month of daily use and storage in my jacket pocket, one, channel will cut out intermittently then permanently, followed a day later by the other channel. I have had this problem with 2 pairs purchased from koss directly, and 1 of 3 purchased from amazon this year. I now am careful to unplug the cord from the mp3 player when i am not listening to it, and try to put it on the seat of the truck so the cord doesn't move around much at the base. So, far, so good.
Another great reason to have these phones is that they isolate the noise from a diesel engine, if you drive a large commercial truck, and all the related clunking in the cab that comes along with that. In the cab, one has to compensate for the ambient noise by turning the radio up louder. Not smart. Make sure you watch out for cops. Not legal to do that anywhere I've been.
Works well for hearing people on my Droid phone.
