This is my second wireless headset. My first one was a Sony also and worked extremely well for about 10 years. It survived two moves and finally gave up the ghost.
I was so pleased with the first that I went back to Sony, a little better model this time. It is fantastic. I'm not deft but if there is any noise whatsoever in the room I can't understand what is being said on TV. This unit puts a stop to that. I use it sometimes, actually frequently when I am alone just because I can hear so much better with it.
I would guess that these units last about 10 years with normal use and I can't imagine being without mine.

Any adult who has kids or a wife sleeping but wants to watch a movie or a good surroundsond TV show should love this product. Heard about this from John Hein on Geek Time, so I thought they might be spendy, but they seemed very reasonable to me.

I purchased this set as an additional hearing device for my second TV. My wife and I find the use of wireless remote ear phones a must not only to assist in hearing but as a noise saver for watching late night TV after the family is asleep. We have our grandchildren staying quite often and the wireless earphones allow us to watch TV after lights out. My wife and I both wear two hearing aids but we are able to watch TV anytime at the volume we need without anyone complaining. I plan to buy another pair for my mother who lives alone at 89 years of age but needs assistance to enjoy TV without the neighbors complaining.
I find this unit power is long lasting, easy to replace in the charger and the volume control is easy to find and operate. I've owned a couple earlier models but this is by far the best I've found. I had purchased a more expensive unit but I threw it away and got another Sony MDRRF970RK.

A friend of mine recommended these headphones -- After taking them out of the box and plugging them in (long enough to allow the battery to charge) - we started using them. Great sound! - Dual plug-in jack allows one to plug into the front headphone jack or rear audio out jack of the receiver. Seems to charge readily and easily -- No complaints!

This is a great product for those of you who don't quite hear all the spoken words as emitted from your TV's speakers. It won't be 100% but is close enough to enjoy the program.This product was easy to install and use. It's one short coming is the audio level adjustment thru the headphone in somewhat awkward to use.
