5 out of 5 stars exceptional clarity   June 13, 2010

These headphones are extremely accurate, though they are not designed for pleasurable "boom" but rather for clear evaluation.

5 out of 5 stars Completely & Exceptionally Awesome!   May 4, 2010

These headphones are excellent! They do require to be broken-in though, for optimal performance. Comfort is ideal for extended use too. However, if external noise or "noise pollution" is a major issue, these may pose some disappointment (at least in that aspect). Of course, this is hardly noticeable unless you stand in close proximity of others (like a few inches away from their ears). On the contrary, this is only an issue if you are hearing impaired or think that you have to crank up the volume. Sound quality of these headphones is substantially consistent at low volumes, nothing gets lost. Therefore, it is not necessary to attempt to cause inner-ear damage when rocking-out. ...Unrelated, I am still anxious for digital-optical technology (fiber optics) to be incorporated into a headphone. Which may even be unnecessary and probably overkill, especially when factoring in headphones that sound as superb as these.

5 out of 5 stars Best Headphones   April 4, 2010

I am a professional guitarist/producer who runs a recording studio. I have been searching for a great set of headphones for years since a pair was stolen. The AKG 701's are the best headphones I have ever heard. The clarity and true sound is fantastic, and beyond compare, unless you like dance music and want some sort of bass boost, and if that is the case then you won't want these. I highly recommend this product to anyone who really loves good music and hi-fi, flat response production. These headphones should cost 6-700.00 and if they did, I would have still bought them.

5 out of 5 stars One of the greatest headphones!!   February 13, 2010

I had owned Hd650 and DT880 before I bought K701, actually, I never expect K701 to be so excellent. Compare to HD650, its price is just wonderful. The HQ sound really punched me, esp, the soft female voice!
And the tune of the songs sounds warmer than DT880's.
Beside the sound quality, its design is also very good. White is the colorful impression K701 gives us. Very pure and moving. I promise that everyone who owned K701 will love it. In spite of the good-look outward appearance, K701 is very comfortable, too. When you are listening some songs that full of bass, you just feel nothing on your head.

I had originally asked for a pair of Audio Technica Headphones for Christmas because the price was so much less. I ended up getting $100 Amazon Gift Certificate through work. So my wife upgraded me to these (she wanted to get me Grados). I am so glad she got me these because as much as I remembered liking the Grado 22o's and the Audio Technica 700's, these are a step up. Very big, but amazingly comfortable.

They immerse you with sound. I have Audio Research Electronics (Hybrid and Tubed) along with martin Logan speakers so I had just so-so expectations for these. Frankly, I am grinning. I will be getting X-Cans or Headrooms for the home stereo so I can interface these.

I enjoy these immensely even with a TEAC Vintage unit I have in the office and, can you believe a laptop even? Way more versatile than I imagined, low enough to hear the bass, but not the fake boom you get with the stuff designed for ipods.

If you love music but need to keep it down because of wife and kids.... get em.
