2 out of 5 stars Sound great, but very uncomfortable and not well made   May 31, 2010
J. C. Evans (Spooner, WI)
Just thought I'd put in my opinion of these after owning them for almost 2 years. They do sound great with all types of music. I haven't heard more expensive headphones, but the sound coming from these was so much better than my old $50 Koss headphones and any in-the-ear types I have ever owned. I was initially very pleased with my purchase. However, they become very uncomfortable after about an hour of listening, and even a year after were putting lots of pressure on and around my ears. The bar at the top has a tendency to "dig" into my scalp because the bar is really more flat on top than rounded. After a little over a year the plastic connector that holds the ear cup to the bar (the grey one - see the picture) completely snapped apart while putting them on. The jagged plastic edge snapped into my cheek hard enough to draw blood. I have been using them the last year or so, but put the cups under a head bandana to keep them in place. Recently the left channel has been crackling - it comes and goes when I jiggle the wire. It is now time for a new pair and I am not considering another pair of AKG's!

4 out of 5 stars cheap, worth the money but not great   March 22, 2010

I got this off the amazon.com after hearing many reviews about it. Most of the reviews praised the item for its price. In fact, it is quite a bargain to get a headphone like this within 60 dollar range.

Because of its ohms, you can hear it loud on your ipod unlike bigger, more powerful headphones which will need an amp to increase its quality and volume. So those of you who are planning to use the headphone with small mp3 players, this is the headphone to go.

The bass is deep, however, it's too crisp and punchy with some of the songs. I believe it is the quality of the song that was the problem because some songs, the bass is quite good to hear without any crackling sounds.

One warning that I would provide after hours of usage is that, the headphone squeezes your head quite tightly. Tightness is good for a tight seal of your ears, therefore, isolation of sounds from outside. However, with that comes a uncomfortable feel and limited hours of usage due to the pain it gives. I purposely stretched the headband out by putting my headphone over a ball or some sort for days beacause of that reason and now it has set down to my own level of comfortability.

Overall, this can be a fun, easy to carry (it's foldable), ipod friendly headphone, however, it can't produce the best quality of sounds which is expectable due to its price.

1 out of 5 stars Design Defect on headphone plug   February 19, 2010

Worked perfectly for about 4 months until the right headphone stopped producing sound.

The design of the plug makes the wires naturally prone to shorting after a time of pulling the headphones out of the jack. If I knew the first thing about electronics or soldering I would try to fix it myself. All I can say is that there is a VERY good chance your pair will meet the same fate withing the first 6 months of owning these. The design is just plain flawed.

1 out of 5 stars Crap   February 3, 2010

First off, I was amazed by these headphones- nice fit, good style, decent sound.

BUT, for all it's worth, these headphones are crap. After roughly a week of use, the sound to the right speaker simply disappeared. No amount of jiggling the cord would yield any results, and last time I checked the solder on the speaker itself was intact.

If you decide to waste $65 on this, be prepared for bitter disappointment.

5 out of 5 stars You Only Hear What You Want To Hear   January 11, 2010

These headphones are amazing. I bought them to block out the noise my roommate makes when listening to the terrible music she likes. These do exactly that. Even in our little studio apartment, when she's playing her stereo I can't hear anything but my music when I have these on. The thick cushioning makes them very comfortable too.
