Great Headset for the price March 8, 2010 Tracy A. Simpson (Los Angeles, CA) The Sony MDR-IF240RK are very great for what I use them for. If you need to use the for watching tv or listening to music without desturbing others this is the set. If you plan on walking around the house with these this is NOT the set they do not go through walls and around corners as soon as you are out of direct range they cut off. The battery life is the best I had so far they last over 3 hours on a single charge.
A good nights sleep at last!!! March 8, 2010 Renee B Scott Due to the fine quality and affordable price of this product, I now sleep peacefully at nights while my husband is able to watch his favorite late night shows. Thank you Sony for bringing peace into our bedroom again!
Hiss and noise March 7, 2010 B. Aamot I tried this on two HD TVs and got horribly loud noise from the plasma TV system and annoying hiss from the LCD TV system. These headsets are very susceptible to interference. I've owned three different wireless headsets before and this was by far the worse. I tried everything to get rid of the noise including turning off all electronics and lighting in the area. But, nothing worked. The noise from the plasma TV was unbelievably loud which I attribute to the infrared light that must be coming from the screen. And if your head isn't perfectly rotated, you lose signal. Radio Frequency (RF) headsets are far better than these infrared ones. Structurally, the headsets themselves are made of very cheap plastic and feel like they are ready to fall apart.
Sony makes some pretty amazing products, but they also make junk. Don't buy this just because of their name. This is a poor quality headset even for the low price that I paid.
Now I just use a long audio cord which cost me about $5. It may not be hi-tech, but the audio quality is perfect.
GOOD FOR THE PRICE March 2, 2010 Sidney Thomas (Pittsburgh, PA USA) Sound is a little staticy and can get a bit annoying; however, overall, for the price, the unit seems to be better than average. Recharging seems a bit slow---a few hours use takes a whole day to fully recharge. A larger ear pad would be nice. But, it sure beats less expensive units.
Bad sound quality & defective February 28, 2010 RadEngr I thought that wireless was a great idea; but was very disseminated in this product. My biggest complaint, other then the sending unit being defective was the sound quality. The sound quality was worse than an old AM station.
